The snow is almost gone. For real. The temperatures for this week are in the 50s around Washington DC area. And it has been raining all day. The rain is washing everything away. Snow, salt, grime, everything.
Of course the accumulated snow and now the rain make the trail soft and muddy. My run this morning is accentuated with skips, hops, and splashes. Just wish it was raining harder, so my running shoes at least would be a bit cleaner.
Not too many folks on the trail on the account of the rain and the trail condition. A few die-hard runners make me proud to have companies. Then a troop of boy scouts doing their annual fifty miles hike. Yes, 50 miles. All of a sudden, I don’t feel as wet or as muddy anymore.
