Day 6 Week 1 – Memorial Day Weekend

If there can be a picture perfect day in Washington, DC, today is it.

Apparently, I am not alone in feeling this way.  Lots, and I mean lots, of people are out on the C & O Canal.  Families with baby strollers, kids with backpacks, and bicyclists etc. all are taking advantage of this gorgeous Memorial Day weekend.  Sure it makes the trail a bit crowded, but perfectly fine for my 10 miles easy run this morning.

Speaking of Memorial Day, below is a picture of this American flag I took.  The flag belongs to a local car dealership.  You can judge the size of the flag by comparing it to the cars in the lot.  It is huge.  And by extension, it has to be fairly breezy that day.

As the flag unfurled, it reminds me of all those in uniforms who gave their lives in serving this country.  We honor them as they paid the ultimate price for preserving the freedom and ideals this country represents.
