Day 5 Week 12 – Hope Is Not a Strategy

Many hope things will happen.  But clearly hope is not a strategy, not for success or marathon.

Brene Brown, professor at University of Houston and author of the book, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead, explains,

Hope is a function of struggle.

I like Brown’s version.  Struggle brings hope.  Hope is earned through struggles.  Hence the 20 weeks of marathon training is the price for marthoners.

Want to have a good marathon?  Stop hoping and start running.
