Day 3 Week 18 – Taper Cutdown

The cutdown workout is designed for runners to push through pain while the legs are tired.  And today’s taper cutdown schedule is 2 mile warm up, 6 mile tempo (first 3 miles at 8:20 pace, second 3 miles as fast as I can), and 2 mile cool down.

For some reason, I was thinking about the tempo intervals and surges (i.e. 8:20 and 8:00 paces) this morning. Did not even come close to the cutdown like.   My times for the 6 mile tempo were  8:05, 8:01, 8:05, 7:49, 7:51, 8:00.  The gorgeous weather, however, was the saving grace.

According to the wordpress clock on my page there are 18 days to Wineglass Marathon. I have been getting good rest at night.  It is a good sign for tapering. I need to be recharging my body during these couple weeks.
