Mental Toughness

Marathoners have the mental toughness that is trademark to any of the endurance sports.

The marathoner’s mental toughness comes from not only running the actual 26.2 miles (which is impressive by itself) but also the 140 days and 700+ training miles before the race.

Day in and day out.  That is what makes the marathoners mentally tough.

Marathoners practice like the Nike slogan says, JUST DO IT! They don’t over think it (unnecessary distractions), they handle the pain (mentally and physically), and they don’t quit.

I think this mental toughness is also character building.  Don’t you agree?
