What Is Your Art?

What do you do well?

Merriam-Webster defines art as,  “something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings.”

To me the “created with imagination and skill” captures the essence of what I called art.  It does not have to be important or beautiful.  Those are inherent values and subjective in the eyes of the beholder anyway.  But our art is uniquely us.

For some, their art is their calling, profession, or both.  They are the lucky ones. Because they are already engaged in this creative pursuit and befitting the title of artist.  When their art becomes “objectively” beautiful, expressive, or inspiring, people are drawn to it naturally.

For all others, it is still a work in progress.  Every one of us (women, men, child, adult) possesses this innate ability called imagination.   Whether we are “good” at expressing it is a different story.  But we are all artists at heart.

Find your art, and you will find yourself.

You may not have considered yourself as an artist, but what do you do well? What do you enjoy doing or creating?
