Bad news fill the pages of newspaper and the soundbites in the air wave everyday. No question the media industry wants to sell paper by feeding us stories. But real evil people among us are providing the media all the reasons.
The latest news on the Panama Papers clearly points to that people among us, let along leaders, with bad intent are betraying the trust of people they are supposed to represent. This in my book makes them evil.
As an example, the national leaders, Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister; Ayad Allawi, ex-interim prime minister and former vice-president of Iraq; Petro Poroshenko, president of Ukraine; Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson, prime minister of Iceland and among others are stashing money in offshore tax havens.
The super rich can park their money anywhere they want (assuming done legally). But the national leaders are different. They are accountable to a higher expectation.
What makes something, be it a person, an act, a thing, evil? Is it the outcome, the intent, or both?
