Letting go is easy EXCEPT when it is hard. Hard when the timing is off at particular moment. For example, during insomnia moment, panic attack, or emotional involvement.
Say it is late Sunday night and you are wide awake. In spite of your best attempt, thought about the upcoming week keeps on interrupting your sheep count. Letting the thought go would be just the right remedy, but . . .
Going on a long vacation, you realize that you forgot to leave your house key with the neighbor who is supposed to feed your pet goldfish. Panic sets in. Cold sweat breaks out all over. But you can’t turn the airplane around. Letting the thought go would be just the right remedy, but . . .
Breaking up with something or someone you care a lot is hard. Your emotional involvement makes it torturous to go through with the process. Even though your decision is the right one, you still feel like hell. Letting the thought go would be just the right remedy, but . . .
So, letting go sounds easy but executes hard.
What is the hardest thing for you to let go? How did you maintain self control?
