Day 4 Week 6 – Identity Crisis

8/4/2016 – 7 AM run,  cool & pleasant, 3 miles warm up, 3 miles at 8:00 to 8:10 (my marathon race pace), 2 mile cool down.  The splits are 8:33, 8:25, 8:15 – a bit slower than my race pace.  This is my first steady (race) pace run in minimal shoes.  So still adjusting my stride to get it into the target pace range.

The U.S. Presidential election is less than 100 days away, 95 day to be exact.  Instead of rallying around its presidential nominee, the Republican party is having an identity crisis.  Why?  One word: Trump.

The Republican defection from the rank and file is growing.  Adding insult to injury is Mr Trump’s peculiar behaviors including his refusals to endorse key  Republican leaders who are facing tough re-election challenge.

Simply stated, Trump has the Republican [nomination] but the Republican Party doesn’t have Trump.  The party’s nominee is beating a different drum – a drumbeat to his own calculus.  This spells crisis not so much for Mr. Trump but for the Republican party.

What is your take on the tailspin for the Republican party in the upcoming election?
