Day 1 Week 9 – Social Responsibility

8/22/2016 – 8 AM run, sunny & cool, 3 miles warm up, 4 miles @ 8:00 to 8:10 pace, 2 miles cool down.  My time split was 8:24, 8:08, 8:21, 8:05. But the worst part was that I got a blister.

Social responsibility – probably not a topic that is foremost on people’s mind.  But it should.  What is social responsibility?  According to Wikipedia, social responsibility is a duty that all entity, individual or organization, has to act for the benefit of society at large.

Whether being good citizens or corporate citizens, we are obligated to maintain a balance “between the economy and the ecosystems.”  Or “give and take” as I would call it. This balance is what needed to sustain our growth and future.

A common argument against social responsibility is that it adds cost to the bottom line. That is reactive thinking.  Imagine if we self regulate, the need for government or market regulation vanishes.  Instead of viewed as a cost on the ledger, the social responsibility can actually reduce costs.

What do you believe is your social responsibility?
