It is America’s birthday. Happy 241st. I celebrated the birthday with a 6 mile recovery run this morning.
Call me sentimental if you want. But I am not feeling the same warmth usually with the patriotism on this day. America has been undergoing a shocking social/ political experiment since the 2016 presidential election, and its citizens are being tested weekly if not daily by a president who exploits the situation through his tweets.
If the Fourth of July provides any context, it is a contrast in how far we have blurred the line between reality and reality TV show under this administration. Instead draining the swamp of Washington DC, we have poisoned it. Political persecution is standard tactics by this president.
Class warfare, spins and lies. This is weirder than fiction. Can’t wait to see what’s in the next episode. “House of Cards” eat your heart out.
