Day 1 Week 13 – Long Cool Down!

2 miles warm up, 6 x 1 mile (90 sec rest), 2 miles cool down, sunny & 82 degree

Believe it or not, the hardest part of my workout today was the cool down.  Yup! I walked it because I was exhausted from the intervals and the heat.  Nothing wrong with walking, except it made the process a lot longer.

Ran the intervals off track (a mile out & back).  And I noticed the difference in grading in each direction and my splits: 7:09, 7:48, 7:19, 7:51, 7:34, 8:09 (target range is 7:22 to 7:37).  Not sure if it was the heat or my long run from Saturday.  By the last interval, I felt spent.

So for cool down afterwards, I attempted to jog through the sunny ways and walk under the shades.  A nice idea that did not last.  Ultimately, I just walked.  Even stopped in a local community center to get some nice and cold refill for my water bottle.

By this point, drenched and tired, all I wanted was to take a shower, eat and nap.  The thought was what sustained me through the rest of the way home.
