Cross training – yoga
Finally decided to listen to my body and took today off from running. For the past few days, I have been a living zombie with my body feels like in a coma and can’t seems to stay awake. So instead, I opt for cross training with yoga.
Only 18 days till the Erie Marathon, I want to train smartly and peak at the right moment (similar to my approach with the Annapolis 10 miler). To do so, my body first needs to recover back to the baseline, then I can train hard and keep up my training intensity.
Yes, you read it correctly. That last part about the training intensity during “tapering” is different from what I have tried in the past marathon preparations.
The best analogy I can offer is that I will cut back the distance (or the junk miles because my aerobic capacity is already developed) but keep myself “sharp” by continuing to work on my lactate threshold until the marathon day.
What do you think about peaking versus tapering?
