“20 degrees above normal,” is how this first day of the new year came to Washington DC today. Surely not to miss this opportunity, I went for a morning run, and it was a breezy 51 degree (Fahrenheit).
The federal government is still under the partial shutdown. But for most folks the New Year Eve and days after the New Year are regular workdays. Besides the warmer than usual temperature, the first of the year feels pretty regular as well.
Thus without much fanfare, the year 2019 has arrived. In a way, there is a relief in me that the holidays are finally over and life can get back to normal. That is except the federal employees. Unfortunately for them (and us), the drama continues.
Are you ready for the new year?
