116th Congress – 1st Day

A new day on the Capital Hill.  The 116th Congress was sworn in today which introduced many historical first’s on the diversity fronts to this legislative body.  The credit belonged to the people and the 2018 midterm elections.

While diversity is good, building consensus and collaboration among different viewpoints and perspectives require skills and efforts. A lot more.  This task now falls on the shoulders of the newly elected Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

More importantly, for a divided government to function, Peloski has to work with the unorthodox President Trump. Which in and of itself is a major challenge. Case in point is the government shutdown that is in its 13th day.

So my hat off to the 116th Congress.  And best wishes in the days to come for people are waiting.

What do you expect from the new Congress?
