Overcoming Fear, Part 2

Courage is the fortitude to press on in spite of the fear (not in absence of it) – from part 1.

Besides what’s seeing in the movies, who would not want to be courageous?  But the courage-fear dilemma has us over a barrel at times.  What to do?  How to overcome it?  Often what it needs is a little persistence (and nudge) as illustrated by Guillaume Apollinaire:

“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We can’t, we’re afraid!” they responded.
“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We can’t, We will fall!” they responded.
“Come to the edge,” he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.”

The poem brings back the memory of how I pulled my son’s tooth with a dental floss.

How would you overcome fear?
