Can’t remember for how long, but I have been listening to the nasty winds outside ripping against my window sills. The whole episode is like a thriller story keeping me on edge.
With little or no warning, wind gusts rattle the window shutters and send tremors reverberating through the frame of the house. My roof and sidings all rumble in deep protest.
Then there are the deceiving silences. Just long enough to trick me into thinking the worst is over. Then the high wind revs up again. It laughs at the satisfaction of catching me with my guard down.
My weary ears and frayed nerve are beaten down. Whatever comfort thought the spring had brought is replaced by the menace of the relentless wind.
It is going to be a long night ahead.
