We are the United States

We are the United States.  Repeat the phrase a few more times, trying to convince myself that it is not an oxymoron.  Yes, we are the United States.

Instead of embracing diversity, racial discrimination is ripping us apart.  Has been for a long time.  Martin Luther’s dream still not fulfilled after more than five decades. The Black & Brown Americans are living scared. Yes, we are the United States.

Albeit illegal, racial discrimination is practiced at all levels in our society.  More prominently now by the police brutality. Any wonder, the Karen’s would not hesitate calling the police on innocent non-whites?  Yes, we are the United States.

The words are clear and the idea lofty.  But the words devoid of any real meanings when we the people behave differently.  And to the rest of the world:  Yes, we are the United States.

Or supposed to be.
