Me, Myself, and I

The different roles we play in life illuminate parts of our true self.  Be it professional, parental, or personal.  Yes, one would hope some similarities or overlaps among the roles exist.  But by and large, it is the differences that make us unique.

For instance, as a runner and marathoner, certain outlooks on life I have that are different from say an average person.  Determination, endurance, and a glutton for punishment just to name a few.  Sure, carryover traits to my other roles exist, but it is the differences that stand out most.

So when asked “tell me about yourself,” why not emphasize the differences? Because it is the similarities (with the others) that got them to ask the question.  By highlighting what one has done differently, the answer will be more unique, interesting and memorable.

So who are you?
