Bottom line upfront – what’s love got to do with it? The answer: Everything.
Love is that heartfelt connection attracting us to other persons, objects, animals, ideas, or whatever. It’s a deep seated emotional charge in our heart that will not only move us but also motivate us to tackle any obstacles in the way of that attraction.
It seems irrational but feels real. Therefore, “what do I love?” is the question I have been contemplating and using as a tool of inquiry in my self-discovery. And it goes something like this:
Do I love my family? How about running, yoga, or meditation? How do I know the love is present? Is love dependent on the amount of the time or the amount of emotional energy I invest (e.g. something I am passionate about)?
Yes, yes, and yes, All of the above. And more. Much more to unfold.
Suffice to say, along the journey of love, we are challenged on the strength of that connection. Sometime the feeling fizzles out. Other times, the feeling grows. But the ultimate test of love is selflessness.
“If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were.” ~
That seems to work.
