In nature many forces exist: gravity, polarity, heat, wind, etc. The list goes on. These forces of nature are, for the most part, in balance. Seasonal hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires not withstanding. We have pretty much learned, or are learning, to deal with these natural forces.
The story changes however when it comes to social forces. A different set of dynamics, motivated by human conditions, govern. Unlike the natural forces, conflicts from the social forces are imbalanced and typically escalated or magnified by human factors like greed, hate, or fear.
Two recent examples of the social forces are the Israel-Palestine conflict in the Middle East and the US Capital Riot investigation here at home on the Capital Hill. Without going into the histories, suffice to say the former is rooted in hate and later in greed.
Hate – years of conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians have inflicted a downward spiral in trust on both sides. No love lost between the two. Greed – Republicans are motivated to win the mid term elections in 2022 and are unified in denying the largest assault on our Democracy.
Will we be able to navigate these forces of un-nature events? Only time will tell, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
What do you think? Are you optimistic that political discussions will resolve human conflicts?
