Heading into the summer, many of us will be choosing vacation plans especially after the prolonged pandemic restriction. And things are looking up for folks who have received their full immunization.
According to the Associated Press analysis, nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the US are now among the unvaccinated folks. Current casualty number is under 300 a day. Albeit low, it is a tragedy “fully preventable” according to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, CDC Director.
While true that breakthrough infections happen (account for 0.8% of the casualties), this analysis bodes well for the vaccines’ efficacy, and may perhaps persuade some of the unvaccinated people to change their minds. Especially with the Coronavirus “Delta” variant spreading.
For public health, personal conviction aside, each of us decides what the best course of action is. It is an individual decision based on cost and benefit calculations. With children 12 year old and under without a vaccine, as well as the immuno-compromised, perhaps the calculation goes beyond ourselves.
Have you received full vaccination?
