“The root of suffering is attachment.”  ~ The Buddha

Human are emotional beings. We develop feelings toward others over time.

Be it our friends, our pets, or our clothing. They become our favorites because we have deposited our time, energy, and emotion into the relationships. It’s only natural that we become attached.

However, nothing in life is permanent.  Life itself certainly is not. The Buddha would be right, if instead of letting go, we allow our attachments to torment us. Suffering ensues.

Alternatively, letting go is easy if we invest little feeling (i.e. don’t care), or as I prefer:

Recognize the impermanence of our relationships, celebrate while we are attached, and give a proper goodbye when the time comes.

Easy said than done, I know.  But that should never stop us from trying.

Are you suffering from attachment?
