It is still May, after the Memorial Day, but scorching heat blankets the Washington DC region making it feel more like middle of summer. At least the pools are now open. And kids can take a reprieve from the heat by dipping in the water.
Looking at the temperature (93-degree Fahrenheit) and the sun beaming down, I am glad I did my run early in the day. Even then, I searched for shades to run under so to avoid getting baked.
On day like this, I feel for folks working outdoors. Body sweats profusely to keep itself cool. Hydration is absolutely essential. As for me, I am done for the rest of the day. Watermelon and naps sound like an ideal recovery combo.
