Even though Aristotle did not say, “We are what we repeatedly do.” I like the phrase nevertheless. Why? You ask.
It aptly describes our nature as creatures of habit, and, profoundly, our chance at our destiny if we persist. While the latter more active than the former, the idea is the same – “Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
The saying was the words of Will Durant, author of the book “The Story of Philosophy.” Having the benefits of hindsight, Mr. Durant no doubt was inspired by the great philosophers came before him (1926). Putting his words together:
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. ~Will Durant
