Just finished the fifth Jan 6 Committee Hearing, and my admiration goes to the civil servants in the US Department Of Justice who upheld their oath of office and stood firm against the pressure from the former President Trump to perpetuate the lie of a conspiracy on a stolen election of 2020.
Here is the Oath of Office civil servant takes:
“I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” 5 U.S.C. §3331
Our elected Congressional member takes the same oath. But in a stark contrast, the named Congressional Republicans (revealed during today’s hearing) asked White House for Presidential Pardon on their involvement in the Jan 6 riot, violated their oath. Shame, shame, shame.
Do you think those exposed Congressional members broke their oath of office? Should they resign?
