Former president Donald Trump’s legacy is like the gift that keeps on giving.
To wit, this week the House Jan 6 Committee hearing revealed how much he pressured officials in both federal and state governments to go along with his stolen election lie of 2020. And how close he got to destroy our democracy if it weren’t for the integrity of these officials pushed him back.
But not everyone is so trustworthy. Case in point was the Texas Republicans who declared in their state convention their support to the very same lie and their willingness to do Trump’s bidding. Unbelievable as it sounds, two more shocking news happened at the end of the week.
The US Supreme Court, where 3 of the justices were appointed by Trump, issued two landmark rulings to allow carrying of concealed handguns and overturned the Roe v Wade which had been the law for 50 years. These decisions will have far reaching impacts across the land.
If there is a silver lining, the events of the week publicly displayed some of the deepest political issues that have divided Americans. Deeper soul searching on what’s legal and right from wrong are the country needs. And in the midst of all these controversies, I decided to break all the rules.
No, no, no. I am not losing my head or letting the politics get to me. If anything, I am liberating myself from the noises. Instead, the rising inflation brought on by the Covid pandemic and then the Ukraine war, forecast a looming recession, has my attention.
Stay safe & have a nice week.
