When I saw the line “how to turn routine tasks into mindful rituals,” it sold me right off the bat.
You see, routine and ritual are different. The former is unavoidable. We all have routines. Otherwise our days would be chaotic and trying. But the risk of routines is they have a tendency turning into autopilots. Which can get old quickly.
If we can keep our routines from becoming mindless tasks and transforming them into fulfilling rituals, count me in. That is what this Kaiser Permanente article about. In fact, it suggests five (5) ways:
- Slow down to focus on the moment
- Practice gratitude by saying it
- Notice details in the surrounding through our senses
- Reflect with family at meal time on both positive & negative of the day
- Take time to meditate
