Week In Review – 16 Oct 2022

This week kicked off with the Columbus Day observed, a federal holiday. But few were in the mood to celebrate.

What preoccupied people’s attention included the escalating war in Ukraine, rising inflation, pressing food & energy shortages, forever Covid, and record natural/ climate disasters.

Challenges as such are unnerving and not good on businesses, their customers, or governmental entities entrusted to control risks. Collectively, we are failing to make the grade.

“These are the times that try men’s souls,” Thomas Paine wrote, and “the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” However, the path to triumph is far from certain right now.

Should we pause and re-evaluate if we’re working on the right  priority and not the squeaky wheel? Or if we are holding on old paradigms when we should be moving ahead? No easy answers.

But persist we must in developing better solutions to our current predicament, maintain a healthy sense of skepticism while promoting diversified ideas, and reject falsification and misinformation that are aimed to detract us.

Stay safe and have a nice week.
