A couple of major news in the US today that are noteworthy:
- Major scientific breakthrough by the Lawrence Livermore Lab in California. Scientists successfully created fusion ignition in which more energy were released then used. This paves the possibility to a cleaner energy and independence from fossil fuel in the future (Guardian).
- Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested in Bahama. SBF is the founder and former CEO of the crypto currency exchange FTX. The FTX meltdown last month wiped [8] billions dollars off the market and people’s pocketbooks (NBCNews).
- President Biden signed a bill (also known as Respect for Marriage Act) to protect the same-sex marriage rights (NYTimes). This landmark legislation with bipartisan support erased the previous Defense of Marriage Act of 1996 which defined a marriage is between a man and a woman.
In time like ours, these good news are sorely needed. As I have written before, don’t count the December out.
