The New Year Day was the past Sunday. It necessitated the national holiday be observed today (Monday). But if I was not looking at the calendar, today feels like just another day. I kid you not.
Sure, no governmental businesses, no mail delivery, and no trash/ recycle pick up. But other than that, everything is pretty much the same. What is to observe on this day? The answer is it depends.
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The answer is clearly a yes, whether or not anyone was there to hear it. Object realities matter independent of how we think (or feel).
Similarly, 2023 is now our standard of reference, regardless one is ready or not.
If nothing else, it offers an opportunity to assess our current situations. Old habits are hard to break. If you need a reason, the new year is as good as any. Same holds true if you have an urge to reach new height.
