On Our Perception & Reality

Perception is our lens to the world. It is shaped in part by imagination and part observation. The resulting existential reality is as unique as each individual, yet commonly experienced by all.

Be it curiosity, boredom, frustration or ecstasy, our perception is triggered by what appears at the end of our senses. A burning smell, baby crying, or engulfing flames? These scents, sounds, and sights could set us off on wild rollercoaster ride or curious investigation.

Movie producers and other creative artists are well aware of this hook and fully leverage this opportunity to captivate us. There are others, with less honorable intentions, apply the same techniques to influence us.

It is easy to get inundated by numbers and headlines. This further complicates the space between perception and reality. And sorting out what’s what can be a real chore.
