As much as we like to hold on to the familiar, change remains a fact of life. By the time when you finished reading this sentence time will have marched on and irreversible changes will have taken place. Cells divide, earth moves, and people grow.
Such is the paradox of life: we need change to transform our lives. From stone, paper, typewriter, to computer, progress continues and so do our lives. While stability offers comfort, undeniably, we need change more, to make life better.
Certainly, change has its downsides. Think pollution, fear of the unknown, instability, and disruption. But if we accept the idea that change is inevitable, we can proactively plan, design, and manage its impact. After all, that is how progress happen.
